Despite the inordinate amount of smoke in the air late Thursday afternoon, the index gave Prince George's air a rating of five out of 10, or moderate health risk. If that wasn't bad enough, the ratings for Quesnel and Williams Lake at the same time had reached 10.

The disparity between the rating and how it looked outside left Prince George left People's Action Committee for Healthy Air president Dr. Marie Hay wondering how valid the index is for Prince George.
