The Ministry of Environment and the Northern Health Authority issued an air quality advisory for Prince George today.

Due to high levels of particulate matter, those with chronic medical conditions should avoid strenuous outdoor activity until the advisory is lifted.

Infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes or suffer from lung or heart disease are advised to be particularly cautious with exposure.

A stagnant high pressure system over Prince George has kept pollutants, such as wood smoke, road dust and emissions from industry, in the air shed. Light winds and dry conditions are expected to remain over the region.

The air quality advisory will be in effect until

further notice.
