Air Canada flight from Prince George to Vancouver marked for COVID-19 exposure

For a second time in less than three weeks, a flight connected to Prince George may have been exposed to COVID-19.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) added an Air Canada flight to Vancouver that departed from YXS on Friday (March 26) to its list of domestic exposure list this evening (March 29).

The service is Air Canada/Jazz 8212, with passengers seated in rows 10 through 16 may have come into contact wit someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Since March 27, 2020, passengers seated near a case of COVID-19 that was recognized after arrival are no longer being directly notified of their potential exposure, but are asked to check online and monitor their symptoms.

The following flights involving Prince George in 2021 have been flagged for COVID-19 exposure: 

  • Jan. 1 = WestJet flight 3282 from Prince George to Vancouver - rows three to nine
  • Feb. 28 = WestJet flight 3287 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows 14 to 20
  • March 6 = Air Canada/Jazz flight 8209 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows three to nine
  • March 26 = Air Canada/Jazz flight 8212 from Prince George to Vancouver - rows 10 to 16

As of this publication (March 29), Northern Health has recorded 5,898 infections for COVID-19 since March 14, 2020, which has included 120 deaths.

Currently, there are 340 active cases, 12 people admitted into critical care among 30 total hospitalizations in the region, and 5,432 recoveries.
