CKPG TV in Prince George has signed an affiliate agreement with Rogers-owned Citytv.
Not much will change locally, according to station manager Ken Kilcullen.
"We're pretty much there now, " said Kilcullen, of the agreement set to start Sept. 1. "We have a program supply agreement with them so that's what you're seeing for syndicated programming, both Canadian and U.S., and that's from the existing deal that we have with City."
As an affiliate, the Pattison stations, including CFJC TV7 in Kamloops and CHAT TV in Medicine Hat, Alta, will work more closely on sales and programming.
The Pattison stations will air 90 per cent of Citytv programming throughout prime time and the majority of the morning and daytime hours and will follow the Citytv Vancouver programming grid, including airing the popular morning show Breakfast Television.
"Nothing changes in local staffing and local programming is still our primary commitment," said Kilcullen. "This agreement is about programming not produced by ourselves. We run our daily news at noon, 5, 6:30 and 11 p.m. and we'll continue to produce our programs here and we're looking to build even more hours of local programming. This gives us the ability to be confident in the future of the station as far as having a secure program supply agreement going forward and that's key."
The three Pattison stations will continue to operate in their respective markets with the current managers and employees.
