Wondering what to do with the kids this summer?

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George is offering a series of week-long adventure day camps from July 4 to Sept. 2. The camps are open to children starting Grade 1 in September to those completing Grade 7 this year, Big Brothers Big Sisters out-of-school programing manager Tim Bennett said.

"Last September we opened our after school care at Quinson Elementary. We've had such success with that, that we wanted to expand it and offer those types of programs during the summer as well," Bennett said. "Each week consists of a bunch of activities set out around the week's theme."

Weekly themes include Out and About, Science and Sports, Building and Breaking and The Amazing Race.

Each week will include several field trips, Bennett added, including a day at a local lake each week.

"We're going to be exploring all the lakes in and around around Prince George," Bennett said. "We've got some great field trips planned. The kids are going to learn a lot, and have fun while doing it."

Field trips will range from Forests for the World and Cottonwood Island Park to bowling and laser tag, he said.

"We'll also be going to some behind-the-scenes places in the community," he said. "The kids will really get to explore Prince George."

Space is limited to 20 children per week. To find out more or to register, go online to www.bbbspg.ca, call 250-563-7410 or stop by the Big Brothers Big Sisters office at 777 Kinsmen Place.

The program will be based out of the Kinsmen Community Complex on Kinsmen Place, just off of Fifth Avenue.
