The B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported 29 active cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region on Thursday, up three from the day before.

The region also accounted for six of the 425 new cases reported province wide. Fraser Health accounted for 268 of those cases and Vancouver Coastal for 126.

Active cases for the province climbed by 126 to 3,389. No new deaths were reported, keeping that total at 263 since the pandemic broke out.

In a teleconference with media, health minister Adrian Dix referred to a recent order limiting gatherings in homes to the immediate household plus their so-called "safe six" guests.

"When it comes to house parties and gatherings, the message is simple," he said. "Don't throw them, don't go to them...we should all just say 'no.' Don't throw, don't go, say no."
