Active COVID cases in Northern Health rise by 21

Total still well below 360 at start of month

Northern Health was home to 238 active cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, up 21 from the day before.

Although up, the count remains way down from 360 at the start of December.

As well, the number of hospitalizations stood at 10, compared to 38 as of December 1, but the number in critical care remained effectively unchanged at nine.

Deaths from the virus in the region since the pandemic broke out in March 2020 held steady at 269 after rising by three over Tuesday-Wednesday.

The number of cases in the region in which the Omicron variant has been detected remained at one.
