Active COVID-19 rise in Northern Health

One more death in region, raising total to 280

 Northern Health was home to 1,166 active cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, up 30 from the day before.

The virus also claimed one more life, raising the number of deaths in the region since the pandemic was declared to 280. Province-wide, six more deaths were reported, for an overall total of 2,455.

222 new cases were reported in Northern Health while hospitalizations were unchanged at 13 while the number in critical care stood at three, up two day-over-day.

Adjusted for age, in B.C. there were 77.9 cases per 100,000 population of hospitalizations due to COVID during Dec. 28-Jan. 10, with not vaccinated accounting for 47.2, partially vaccinated for 22.2 and fully vaccinated for 8.5, according to the Ministry of Health.
