The man believed responsible for a house fire over the weekend faces additional charges following the death of the home's owner in the blaze.

Charges of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death have been approved against Frank William Edward Marion, 49, while the original charge arson causing bodily harm remains in place, Prince George RCMP Cst. Craig Douglass confirmed Tuesday.

Jagdev Singh Jawanda, 85, died Sunday evening from injuries suffered in the fire, which drew about 20 fires to Jawanda's 2700 block Merritt Street home early Saturday morning.

Jawanda was a past president of the Guru Gobind Sikh Temple Association and a retired math teacher who taught in the Prince George school district.

Marion, who remains in custody, was a tenant in the house, as were two other people, and his case is next scheduled for a fix date hearing by the judicial case manager on Jan. 17.
