A power outage n Prince George Monday that left more than 100 residents without electricity was caused by a single vehicle accident on River Road.

RCMP say about noon time a vehicle struck a power pole and rolled onto its roof off the roadway.

The 50-year-old male driver of Prince George was assisted out of the car by two witnesses who called police. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital of Northern BC for medical attention.

Police advise that speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the incident and therefore an impaired driving investigation is underway.

BC Hydro is working in the area to restore power.
