It isn't quite Festivus yet, but one CrossFit competition is celebrating it in a different way.

The Festivus

The Festivus Games: Feats of Strength for the Rest of Us takes place on Oct. 13.

CrossFit Northern ICE in Prince George is one of 15 Canadian locations taking part in the games along with gyms in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and other locations in B.C.

Western Australia has one gym as well, and in the United States gyms in places like New York, Nevada, and Kentucky are participating.

The Festivus games have novice, intermediate, and masters 45+ divisions. You may be overqualified for the games if you meet certain requirements.

The games saw over 19,000 participate worldwide in 2017. People compete in pairs of the same sex completing WODS  (it's tiring just reading the exercises).

There are no finals for the competition. The top three teams after all WODs are complete make the podium.

Check-in for Prince George is at 7:45 a.m. on OCt. 13. Registration closes on Oct. 6.

It's a Festivus for... the strong ones?

The Fundraiser

The CF24 fundraiser and competition is taking place on Oct. 20 at CrossFit Prince George (1733 S. Nicholson).

The national fitness challenge and fundraiser takes place at fitness centres across Canada (20 cities) with participants competing in a marathon of workouts (six hours).

Registration is free and every participant has raised $20 by Oct. 10.

Starting in 2012, currently, to date, $800,000 has been donated with 45,000 Special Olympics athletes supported. This year the goal is $150,000.

If you prefer not to participate, you can donate to a fundraising athlete or donate at CFPG
