Holding up a mirror to one of the major causes of heartache and social dysfunction - marital infidelity - the complex sub-themes of this compelling play are recognizable to everyone. They realistically represent the moral code of modern life from the early 20th century to the present. Each knows where he or she stands on obeying that code or choosing to defy it - or at least skirt about the rules. Coveting thy neighbour's wife has always been a mortal sin!
