Prince George Public Interest Research Group (PGPIRG), Northern Women's Centre and Pride UNBC are holding a workshop to educate women on alternate products for that time of the month.
The workshop at 7 p.m. Thursday will also include ways to stay healthy during monthly cycles and will provide opportunities for women to create their own recepticles.
"This is your opportunity to learn about what you can do to fight against the environmental and social ramifications of the feminine hygiene industry," said public health nurse and workshop facilitator, Jessica Madrid.
The free workshop, where all fabric and supplies needed will be provided, will be held in the NUSC Crash 'n' Burn Lounge located next door to the Pride Centre at UNBC.
PGPIRG is a non-profit community resource group that is dedicated to the promotion of research, education and action around environmental justice issues and social change.
The group is responsible for the maintenance of the entire compost system found on the UNBC campus and works hard to direct large amounts of waste from the landfills.
The group also provides local farm fresh eggs and local vegetables to the students, faculty, and staff of UNBC.
The organization is completely student funded and depends on volunteers to keep the programs running.
