The annual Francophone Winter Festival starts Saturday and continues through to Feb 6.
To help celebrate, Edith Butler, also known as Mother Acadia, a folk singer, will make an appearance at Un Petit Cafe, Third and George Street, at noon Saturday.
Local restaurants will be serving typical French Canadian dishes throughout the week. North 54 will serve Tortiere, Africa Cafe will service Fves au lard (baked beans), A & A Burger Bar will serve Soupe aux pois (pea soup), Un Petit Caf will serve Tarte au Sucre (Maple sugar pie) and Zoe's Java House: Pouding Chmeur (Maple pudding).
The Francophone Winter Festival will be offering an array of activities during the week. The grand finale will be on Feb. 6 at 9 a.m. with the Sugar Shack Brunch. For more information visit www.franconord.bc.ca.
