A seizure of $250,000 in jewelry, cash and firearms by the Prince George RCMP Task Force is believed to be the biggest proceeds-of-crime bust in the history of the city.
The $40,000 in Canadian cash, jewelry such as diamond rings, heavy guilded chains, a diamond and gold pendant believed to be custom made, plus three hand guns, machine gun pistol and eight ounces of cocaine was seized during the past six month in six different locations or sites with not all being residences, said RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass.
Investigators believe the seized property has been derived directly from the proceeds of crime.
Douglass said although others are believed to be involved, the focus has been on one high ranking member of The Game Tight Soldiers who is also connected to the Renegades Motorcycle Gang. The suspect, who is associated with all sites where seizures occurred, is in custody at this time on other criminal matters.
Once the investigation is complete, the information will be given to Crown Counsel to lay appropriate charges, expected to include Proceeds of Crime and Directing A Criminal Organization which are among recent additions to the Criminal Code.Check out the photos of the loot under Community in Photo Galleries on the home page.
