The Prince George RCMP's 529 Garage anti-bike-theft program has surpassed 1,000 registrations.

The milestone was reached Saturday at Pidherny and organizers are not stopping there. They hope to reach 2,000 by the time the snow flies.

The free registration process takes about five minutes and includes essential information, such as the ownership details, serial number and photos of the bicycle.

In the event of a theft, the information can easily be distributed to other registered riders through an alert feature on the smart phone app.

The information can also be easily provided to both the police and insurance companies.

More registration events are planned for this week:

- Wednesday at Koops Bike Shop, 1659 Nicholson Stt. 6:45-9:15 a.m.

- Wednesday at the BMX track at Carrie Jane Gray Park, 6-9 p.m.
