Best known for playing in bands around Prince George including the Lederhosers that entertained the crowd celebrating Oktoberfest at CN Centre last fall, local musician Chris Urbanski will be releaseing his first CD Saturday night and he's inviting everyone to the party.

"I started out playing drums, piano and then guitar, so I am quite versatile on many instruments for writing and arranging music. That's how it all started," said Urbanski.

"My whole family loves music."

Urbanski can also be found playing smaller venues around the city like Nancy O's and Art Space and he has also played at the barbecue held at the CN Centre atrium when Elton John performed July 16.

The Sons of Mothers Playboys - Urbanski's special guests - include drummer Blaine Powell, stand-up bassist Dean Cherkas, accoustic guitarist Gord Dorish and electric guitarist Peter Fremmerlid who will round out the sound.

Another special guest will be Arielle Logan on the fiddle.

"We're really excited about this show," said Urbanski. "This is a very professional group of musicians gathering together. It's going to be great."

Partial proceeds of the new CD will go to Urbanski's favourite charity, the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Chris Urbanski will host his CD release at Art Space, 1685 Third Avenue at 8 on Saturday night.

Tickets are $10 and are available at Studio 2880 by calling 250-563-2880 or at Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue.
