Hockey With Dad is the latest children’s book from award-winning author Willie Sellars, the Chief of Williams Lake First Nation, who is celebrating the love of hockey and Secwépemc community values.

This is the follow-up book from his first book, the award-winning Dipnetting with Dad.

In Hockey With Dad, Little Brother’s adventures include learning about the importance of hockey in his Secwépemc community.

“The story shows how hockey can bring a family together and teaches readers very essential life lessons along the way,” Sellars said, who described hockey as his favourite sport and plays both for the love of the game and as a way to promote positive living through recreation.

In Hockey With Dad, community values and cultural wisdom are celebrated through a hockey game brought into focus by the action-packed illustrations of award-winning illustrator Kevin Easthope.

When the team goalie gets sick, Little Brother and Big Sister must rely on the wisdom of Grandpa, Dad, and Secwépemc cultural values to overcome big challenges.

Hockey With Dad is now available. Details about the book can be found at www.caitlin-press.com.

Sellars will hold his book launch in Williams Lake at The Open Book on Saturday.
