Wilds to Riches, a show about the Cariboo Gold Rush, from the present day and as far back as 1862, will air on CBC Television's Absolutely Vancouver on Saturday at 9 p.m.
The hour-long documentary visits Heron Channel where in 1862 one-and-a-half tons of gold - today worth $50 billion - was recovered from 400 feet of gravel before nature claimed the rest, flooding the creek bed until someone could find an effective way to remove the water.
This spring a crew from Hard-up Mining dug down through more than 50 metres of gravel, hoping to discover the rest of the payload.
