Friday Night Mics at Cafe Voltaire, Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave., at 8 p.m. features two folk singers from Dawson City and Ft. St. James, Susu Robin and Noosa. The duo plays original songs with guitar and ukulele. As always, the event is free.
Stand Up Comedy featuring Jane Stanton takes place Friday at 7 p.m. at Nancy O's, 1261 Third Ave. Tickets are $15.
Basement Freaks! takes place Friday at Saturday night at 9 p.m. at the Generator. Basement Freaks is the brainchild of George Fotiadis, a major force in the DJ scene for well more than a decade. Supporting DJs include Jimi Smyth, DJ Nige, Tyler West.
City Hall Market Fair is an outdoor European-style market on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair is within walking distance from the indoor Farmers' Market on Sixth Avenue and the outdoor make at the corner by the courthouse. The fair will include arts and crafts from all over the world, local farmers and producers, creative bakers, fruits and food vendors and the best of home-based businesses. Giscome Days at the Huble Homestead takes place Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year the homestead celebrates the 150th anniversary of John Giscome's arrival at Lhedesti, later known as the Giscome Portage. This is a multi-cultural event, featuring Jamaican, Caribbean, and First Nations dishes, as well as music and demonstrations. Learn about the history of the trail through the centuries, take a guided tour of the Portage, and visit the Salmon Valley Post Office in the upper parking lot to learn about the geography and plants on the trail. Be sure to stop into the General Store for our season-end sale, and buy some vegetables from our garden. Huble Homestead Historic Site is located 40km north of Prince George, just off Highway 97 on Mitchell Road. Admission is by donation.
