Giscome Days at the Huble Homestead takes place Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year the homestead celebrates the 150th anniversary of John Giscome's arrival at Lhedesti, later known as the Giscome Portage. This is a multi-cultural event, featuring Jamaican, Caribbean, and First Nations dishes, as well as music and demonstrations. Learn about the history of the trail through the centuries, take a guided tour of the Portage, and visit the Salmon Valley Post Office in the upper parking lot to learn about the geography and plants on the trail. Be sure to stop into the General Store for our season-end sale, and buy some vegetables from our garden. Huble Homestead Historic Site is located 40km north of Prince George, just off Highway 97 on Mitchell Road. Admission is by donation.
