Valentines for Water is an arts and music event honouring traditional First Nations and contemporary ways of relating to water today from noon to 1 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Canfor Atrium at Exploration Place. Cohosted by Danielea Castell and L'heidli T'enneh elder Darlene McIntosh, the event participants will hear shared water stories, group chants and a sound weaving ceremony. Presenters include storyteller Marlene Erickson, CNC acting director of Aboriginal Education, sweat lodge singers Bruce Allan, Aboriginal instructor and Zaa Louie Elder with Nadleh Whuten, and live painting by Lisa Loewen and Jennifer Annais Pighin. Donations welcome.
Valentine's Day at Cafe Voltaire sees Joel Kress-Petersen honour Valentine's Day, with a special edition of Friday Night Mics. The Cafe will bake up some delicious valentine-y treats, and create a romantic atmosphere for the evening. As always, the show is free and starts at 8 p.m.
