The Railway and Forestry Museum offers the Celebration of Lights until Dec. 24. Celebrate the season with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, check out the Christmas village display, enjoy some hot chocolate, roasted hot dogs and s'mores around a bonfire, ride the Cottonwood Railway, weather permitting. Special Christmas hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. until Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free with a donation of a non perishable food item or toy for the Prince George Salvation Army Food Bank.
Friday Night Mics features Raghu & Friends, with Raghu Lokanathan, Ivan & Wynn and Eric Tompkins at the Cafe Voltaire in Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave., at 8 p.m. As always this is a free event.
Out of Alba offers a Celtic Christmas Concert at Art Space, above Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Books & Co., for $18.
Winter Light, a winter solstice lantern walk, sees people walking through downtown Prince George Saturday at 7 p.m. Celebrating the first day of winter and to welcome back the light, people can meet under the large owl lantern near the ice rink at the Civic Centre Plaza. Dress warmly, bring music makers, lanterns and wear winter-themed costumes for a 20-minute walk.
Holiday Special featuring Jose Delgado-Guevara and Joanna Lee takes place Monday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. Oak and Thistle wraps up its first season with Prince George Symphony violinist Jose Delgado-Guevara and Vancouver guest violinist Joanna Lee at Shiraz Cafe and Restaurant, 159-1600 15th Ave. Cover charge is $10.
Timber Kings, a new original series starting on HGTV Jan. 5, features Williams Lake log home builders at Pioneer Log Homes. The team builds multi-million dollar log homes for elite clientele. The homes are designed and built at the company's site, torn down and shipped all over the world and resurrected at the client's location. The series features homes from Canada, the US, England and Scotland that are all started at Pioneer Log Homes yard.
