Friday Night Mics at Caf Voltaire, Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue, hosts local jazz singer Alison Henry and guitarist Eric Tompkins. Henry will not only sing jazz, but also bossa nova, blues, ballads and swing at 8 p.m. As always there is no cover charge for this event.
Haunted Maze is at 1679 15th Avenue, beside Re/Max, across from Parkwood Mall from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, Saturday and then again Tuesday and Wednesday. The theme showcases Saw, Scream and Texas Chainsaw Massacre highlights guaranteed to scare everyone! Geared for adults but everyone welcome. $5 for each or $15 per family.
Prince George Railway and Forestry Museum focus on Grimm fairy tales Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a story teller from the Prince George Public Library, a weaver from the Spinners Weavers Guild doing a weaving demonstration while people dare step aboard the ghost train. Hot dogs, hot chocolate and s'mores to roast on the bonfire will be available for purchase. Admission is free with a donation of a non-perishable food item to the Prince George Salvation Army Food Bank.
Story Time Halloween Party will be held Saturday at Cafe Voltaire, Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue, at 10 a.m. Storyteller Kayli is hosting the children's party until about noon and will take over the stage for Halloween stories, crafts, games and, of course, candy for those in costume. This event is open to the public, so feel free to bring your children to join in the fun.
Halloween Spooktacular at Huble Homestead Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. Visit Huble in the dark for Prince George's spookiest Halloween haunt. There will be crafts and activities for the kids, plus entertainment, and hot drinks and snacks in the General Store. The brave at heart can tour the House of Horrors for $3 per tour. New costume contests for children under five, ages six to 10, and 11 and up. Best costumes presented in the Welcome Barn at 7:30 to win prizes. This is an outdoor event and in the dark, so bring a flashlight, wear waterproof shoes, and dress warmly.

Shumka at 50, Canada's leading Ukrainian dance troupe, including former local Brenden Kuzma will perform at Vanier Hall Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The event is presented by Yalenka Ukrainian Association at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Studio 2880 by calling 250-563-2880, $30 for adults and $20 for 18 and under.
Menagerie: A Night to Let it Out! goes Saturday night from 8 'til late at Two Rivers Gallery. YMCA Halloween Spooktacular is Monday. Put on your costume and head down to the YMCA for the second Annual Halloween Spooktacular. Ghouls between the ages of two and five are invited from 10 to 11 a.m. and older ghouls will have from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to scare up some fun at 2020 Massey Drive. Keith Billington, local author, is back with his third book, called Tse-Loh-Ne (The People at the End of the Rocks) - Journey Down the Davie Trail. Billington is hosting a book launch and slideshow at Art Space, above Books & Co., 1685 Third Avenue, on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The book is about the Sekani First Nation, la small band of people living and thriving in one of BC's most challenging and remote areas. The event is free.
