The auctioneer will take the bids on April 30, but art investors are invited to come Thursday to look at the items up for sale.

The Two Rivers Gallery will hold its eighth annual live auction at the end of the month. It has become an effective fundraiser and another way they can engage the lovers of art in our region. Each year they collect pieces from different artists who wish to support their activities, and thus keep the auction fresh each year.

Tonight at 7:30 the gallery's board of directors will hold a preview reception, to show off the array of work that will be up for bid.

"Welcome spring into your home with a newly purchased work of art and support the Gallery at the same time," said gallery spokesperson Elsie Wiebe Klingler. "This year's auction features an intriguing array of live and silent auction items: landscape paintings, First Nations artwork, large abstracts and small works. This year's selection includes artwork by: Perry Rath, Crystalynn Tarr, Larry Rosso, Allan Farmer, George Lesniewicz, Barry Rafuse, Annerose Georgeson, Jeff Molloy, Judith DesBrisay and more. Witness cutthroat bidding wars as local collectors duel for a piece of fine art before the bang of the auctioneer's gavel announces the winner."

Tickets for the live art auction are available at the gallery or online at tworiversgallery.ca for $25 each or two for $40. If patrons cannot attend the auction on April 30 in person, they can still participate by bidding online at www.tworiversgallery.ca or by phoning the gallery at 250-614-7800.

The preview event tonight is free of charge, with refreshments served, the art on display for examining at your leisure, and knowledgeable people to discuss it with.
