A local teen is showcasing a variety of entertainers to prove PG's Got Talent.

Sufey Chen, 18-year-old UNBC bio med student, presents the third annual PG's Got Talent May 5 at the Prince George Playhouse, and locals are asked to auditions. Solos, duos, trios, groups -- everyone is welcome to try out to be in the show.

The show includes a People's Choice award, and the top performer gets $200.

"I was always just looking around at all the people in Prince George and I am amazed at how talented they are, and how passionate people are about what they're doing," said Chen, who achieved Grade 10 in piano and has taught the instrument for seven years.

"It seemed strange to me that there wasn't an outlet where we could combine all of these different talents and show everybody what Prince George has to offer. I think it's really good for Prince George to know about all these talented people."

More than 80 acts tried out last year and 18 were featured during the show.

"Last year we had everything ranging from belly dancing to violinists, actors, comedy skits and metal rock bands," said Chen. "Everyone that came to audition was really different and really cool. I wish we could incorporate more."

During an audition Chen said she's looking for audience appeal.

"People who are entertaining and who love what they're doing are so enthusiastic and that energy radiates off them," said Chen, a champion debater, spent all summer teaching debate in China. "If I want to watch them, you know that everyone else will want to watch them, too."

The auditions are Feb. 18 from 3 to 5 p.m., Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 23 from 1 to 5 p.m. and Feb. 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. at AiMHi, 950 Kerry Street and each performer can book a 10-minute time slot.

"We don't have anything there, no CD players or anything, so please bring everything you need for your performance," said Chen. "This show is open to all ages. If they're five years old and they want to sing, that's OK. If they're 80 and want to dance, they're welcome."

Interested artists need to book audition slots by e-mailing their name, talent, contact information, and preferred date/ time slot to pgsgottalent@live.ca.
