The dead are walking to Prince George. World War Z has arrived.
Some fans of the dramatic and the undead are arranging the city's first zombie-themed festival. On Aug. 22, the city is invited to P.G. Zombie Fest being held on the lawns of City Hall. Many jokes are loaded in that gun, but this is not a political rally, it is all for good fun, said key organizers Lori Trupp and Mindy Colliss.
"Zombies have invaded and they will weave a path along the streets where bloody participants can practice their best moans for 'braaaaaains' kidnapping civilians from their workplace (who have been pre-nominated by their place of employment)," they explained. "The captive humans are kept in the 'infected area' until they have raised enough blood and brains to be released."
The zombie walk begins at noon but festivities start at 9 a.m. including a zombie photo booth, prize giveaways, a Zombification Station to help put the finishing touches on your costume, and local artisans and businesses around the area will have booths set up and food vendor stations.
Local musicians and entertainers will be performing. There are games and activities for the children.
They also plan a Zombie vs. Humans Survival Hunt (preregistered teams will search for clues, do challenges and find the zombie items they need to collect from various locations and businesses around the downtown area). Each team will be playing for a charity of their choice. All participants and spectators are eligible to win prizes.
The organizers are hoping for a groundswell of zombie support. Anyone interested in taking part as a business, food vendor, sponsor or any other kind of participation, please contact Colliss and Trupp at [email protected].
