While it’s only mid-October, Theatre NorthWest’s upcoming holiday production of Miracle on 34th Street: the Radio Play Musical is already being held over due to strong ticket sales.

The production is set to open on Friday, November 24 and additional shows are already being added because of such strong community interest.

“Ticket sales are going so well that we already know we are going to need more shows,” says Marnie Hamagami, artistic producer of Theatre NorthWest.

‘The holiday musical is becoming a popular part of the season,’ says Bradley Charles, artistic associate and assistant director on this project. ‘We are thrilled this one seems so popular."

Miracle on 34th Street tells the story of a department store in New York who hires a man off the street to play Santa. To everyone’s surprise, that man claims to be the real Kris Kringle and his case makes it all the way to the Supreme Court.

The Radio Play Musical is told in the style of a live 1940s-era musical broadcast and staged with live effects and a score of favourite holiday tunes.

Tickets are available at theatrenorthwest.com or at the box office Mondays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at TNW, or at Studio 2880 from Tuesday to Thursdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Miracle on 34th Street the Radio Play Musical will be Theatre NorthWest’s second production of the season.

The company wrapped its successful run of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, which was also held over due to high demand, on Oct. 11.
