Beginning this year, a Children's Art Tax Credit (CATC) allows parents to claim eligible expenses of up to $500 per year per child under 16, or under 18 if the child is eligible for the disability tax credit.

Parents can claim expenses for programs of artistic, cultural, recreational or developmental activity.

To be eligible, a program must be supervised and suitable for children.

Eligible programs include weekly programs that last eight weeks or longer, five-day programs, or a program where at least half the content includes eligible activities.

A program that is part of a school curriculum will not be eligible.
