The world’s most famous DJ, Tiesto, is coming to Prince George’s CN Centre April 27 and Kharah Black, a true Tiesto fan-atic, could not be happier. And she gets to meet him because she is doing some promotional work for the upcoming event.

"I started to hyperventilate when I heard he was coming to Prince George," said Black, who is working toward getting her bachelor of commerce degree at UNBC, with a major in marketing. She still doesn't know exactly what she's going to say to him when she meets him, she added. "I'm just so excited and I've been thinking about it a lot but I have no idea what I'm going to say. I'd really like to talk to him about his music because I have read in a couple of interviews that he's really about making people happy through his music and that's what I've noticed. He always projects such a positive energy and that's why I love him so much."

Black has been a fan of the Dutch DJ since Grade 9. She sometimes feels alone in her passion for Tiesto. Prince George has been slow to come around to house or world music, an electronic atmosphere of lasers, lights, video and state-of-the-art sound systems pounding out the beat, working crowds into a pulsing frenzy of movement.

"Tiesto is a little less mainstream here in Prince George," said Black, who has posters and CDs in her room of the famous DJ. "He is absolutely huge in Europe. I've got foreign exchange students especially from around Holland telling me they can't believe Tiesto is coming to Prince George. They're super excited and can't believe it. It's going to be amazing and it's going to be really good for Prince George to experience this kind of culture."

Black considers it her own personal challenge to educate people about Tiesto and why it's so cool he's coming to town, she added.

"It is a bit of a challenge but it's fun too, because then I get to talk about Tiesto and I have been showing videos in the Winter Garden at UNBC," said Black, who is selling tickets at UNBC as part of promoting the event for CN Centre. Marketing supervisor Glen Mikkelsen approached Black's friend Blair Hogan, who recruited Black and Dustin Blair to help with promotion.

Tiesto will turn CN Centre into the world's most desired night club.

Widely regarded as the world’s most popular DJ/Producer, Tisto has worked with global superstars such as Nelly Furtado, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Goldfrapp. His recently completed

Kaleidoscope World Tour spanned more than 15 months and 175 dates across six continents

playing to more than a million people. He was also the first DJ to perform in the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. He played at Athens in 2004.

"He was voted world's best DJ three times by DJ Magazine," said Black.

During the concert Tiesto will be playing some of his stuff from Kaleidoscope, the fourth studio album by the Dutch trance artist released 2009 on Musical Freedom, as well as his latest work called Zero 76, a collaborative effort with his opening act Hardwell, an up and coming DJ.

"This is going to be the best night you could imagine," said Black. "There's going to be great energy - people are going to be dancing and having a great time and if you're not into dancing you can still sit in the stands. It's all-ages in the stands. If you like going to the bar, this is going to be 10,000 times better."

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and doesn't end until 12:30 a.m. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and at UNBC in the Winter Garden.
