To celebrate Prince George's centennial, fashionista Odelia Kranz thought a showcase spanning a century of clothing styles would be a great idea.

The Elder Citizens Recreation Association will host 100 Years of Fashion Oct. 16 and 17.

The evening starts with cocktails at 5, then dinner at 6 p.m., with the fashion show to follow.

"I got the idea about a year and a half ago," said Kranz, who's been collecting vintage clothing for the occasion.

There's 10 couples who are well known at the Elder Citizens Rec Centre who have volunteered to model the clothing, along with several children.

Dinner will be a throwback to simpler times when fueling the body was more a matter of survival than culinary adventure, so guests can expect some hearty fare to fill their bellies.

Kranz said she'd like the details to be a savoury surprise for those who attend.

"We're doing the fashion show in 20-year segments, starting with 1915 to 1935," said Kranz.

During the fashion show each segment will be accompanied by a musical medley of songs of the era. Kranz will offer an interactive commentary on current events of the day during each segment.

"It's going to be an entertaining evening," said Kranz. All proceeds go to the operating costs of the centre.
