After a bit of a false start, the mural at the Seniors Activity Centre at 425 Brunswick St. is back underway.

Artist Greg Gislason, painter of the Prince George Airport's mural called Spirit Of The Games, is capturing on the outside wall of the centre the essence of what goes on inside the walls of the centre.

The mural was funded through the New Horizons for Seniors program, which offers federal grants for organizations that help seniors make a difference in their communities.

"(He) came into the Seniors Activity Centre and witnessed a little bit of what went on here and then he just went to town coming up with images he thought best portrayed what went on inside," said Trianda Cuthbert, administrator at the centre.

The centre never really had a highly visible presence in the core of downtown and part of the plan for the mural was to entice people to come into the facility and experience the seniors' centre for themselves.

"We've already had people coming in telling us they never knew what this place was," said Cuthbert.

"So it's already working."

The mural will be completed by the end of summer, with the grand unveiling to be announced at a later date.
