Ninja metal action kicks into PG, wearing no armour but clad in solid Metallion.
The Metallion metal music festival is holding its final fundraiser event and the headline act is Ninjaspy, with two more Vancouver bands coming along with them for extra artillery.
Metallion organizer Brad Foster said he was in the right place at the right time to get a chance to showcase Ninjaspy, Nylithia, Blackwater Burial and brand new Prince George act Alien making its mainstage debut.
"Three of the top metal bands in Vancouver joining forces for a tour and I was lucky enough to get the message from the bands asking if I could hook them up with a show," Foster said. "I called the great people at the Legion - the home of Metallion fundraisers and special events - and set the date. We love the Legion and their staff. They have become part of the metal community."
Club-sized events like this are important support events so the Metallion festival has the resources it needs when the drums pound in August.
"I feel this is the best lineup we have had for one of our fundraisers," Foster said. "The opener (Alien) is a surprise P.G. resident who absolutely shreds on eight-string guitar."
It will be the one guitar slinger with backing tracks "but the entertainment level will be higher than your average band," even as a soloist.
Foster knew Nylithia from a set he saw them deliver at the Armstrong Metal Fest in past years. He knew Ninjaspy by reputation, and they have performed in Prince George before so a local following is already in place.
"Ninjaspy has an amazing reputation for their live show. They blend lots of different styles of music but they make it work," said Foster.
He's glad to get a chance to experience Blackwater Burial for the first time, since he's been hearing good feedback about that band from his friends in the Vancouver metal scene.
"I am lucky in the sense that I might not be able to attend the Vancouver shows as much as I would like, but I hear what's going on and who is up-and-coming from trustworthy friends in the scene down there."
This fundraiser four-pack will be held June 9 at the P.G. Legion. Tickets are $15 in advance, available at Electron Sound and Percussion or at the door if any remain by showtime.
