A photographic series, the Portraits of a Pipeline, by Chelsea Miller, will be held at the University of Northern B.C.'s Rotunda Gallery. Opening night is Thursday at 7 p.m. and the exhibit goes until Dec. 23.

The exhibit displays a series of pictures in opposition to the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline.

If approved, the pipeline will cross more than 1,000 rivers, lakes, and streams, which hold sensitive salmon spawning areas. The pipeline's route is planned to go through the Great Bear Rainforest, bringing hundreds of oil tankers to the area.

Each of the individuals photographed for the exhibit represents thousands of people that could be directly affected by an oil spill on the pipeline.

The exhibit is sponsored by the UNBC Arts Council.
