‘Pop-up’ yoga festival a spontaneous event

There is little sense training yoga instructors if they don't get a chance to practice the learning.

There is little sense training yoga instructors if they don't get a chance to practice the learning.

Yoga leader Sufey Chen was already underway with her summer courses when the discussion among her and her participants took a turn for the spontaneous and exciting. They hatched a plan, almost on the spot, to hold a yoga festival. It happens next weekend.

"I believe it is P.G.'s very first yoga festival ever," said Chen, back in her hometown after three seasons of travelling the world as both an instructor and student of the yoga discipline. "It's also a little bit crazy as it's the shortest amount of time (ever) to rock out and host a full event, but hey, inspiration calls."

She is calling it a "pop up yoga festival" because it will be gone almost as fast as it appears. It all happens on Aug. 20 at a lakefront home at Cluculz Lake. The address will be provided when participants register. The full day will, said Chen, include "asana, movement, chanting, sharing circles, sacred ceremony, shamanic rebirthing breathwork, kirtan, music, campfire," and more.

Registration is $108 per person, accessible by emailing Chen at [email protected]. Only 30 spots are available "but I kind of have a feeling this is going to grow," she said.

Chen and her yoga teacher trainees will be guiding this experience. She encouraged all who feel interested to ask her questions to see if it's an experience for you.
