Local teen, Sage Bialuski, 14, won the 2013 Integris Credit Union Young Artist Competition presented by the Prince George Symphony Orchestra.

As the winner, Bialuski receives a $1,000 cash award and the opportunity to perform with the symphony in November.

"The concerto competition was extremely exciting for me," Bialuski said in a recent news release. "Playing with the symphony will be a dream come true. My goal is to complete my ARCT in piano performance, and I hope to further my music studies at a post-secondary level. Music is such a big part of my life, and I am truly grateful for this opportunity."

To showcase her talent, Bialuski will play Mozart's Piano Concerto in C major, K 467, which is part of the show that features a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, the Ode to Joy.

"Sage is an outstanding young pianist," said Lori Elder, Bialuski's piano teacher. "I'm thrilled that she was chosen. She's enormously talented, and I know she'll deliver an exciting performance."

The contest is open to advanced classical performers from throughout northern British Columbia.
