Transformers fan James Struthers performs in singer-songwriter mode at Nancy O's Wednesday at 8 during his 50-date tour from Vancouver Island to Halifax.

The 23-year-old singer songwriter is packing his station wagon and heading out on a tour of Canada, his seventh in two years.

He's got more than 200,000 online hits on his most recent original Transformers-inspired song called You, Me and Optimus Prime.

The Bell Media Emerging Artist for April 2012, his latest song What Are We Waiting For went into rotation on Bell Media and CHUM radio stations across the country, with successful Youtube videos and a Facebook page overflowing with favourable comments. Struthers appreciates the recognition.

"Nothing worth doing in life comes easy, but it doesn't feel like work to me," Struthers said. "I feel very lucky that I've found what I love in life and even more lucky that I wake up every morning and get to do it."

In less than two years, Struthers has released two EPs, four music videos and reached the Top Ten on the Canadian Adult Contemporary charts.
