Two art auctions are giving bidding fingers the itch.
Tonight at the Bob Harkins Branch of the Prince George Public Library downtown, the Community Arts Council, Groop Gallery and the library combine forces for a big event aimed at small art. All the pieces are six inches by six inches, or thereabouts.
"We have more than 170 pieces of art submitted for sale, by more than 70 different artists and we keep getting more," said CAC executive director Wendy Young. It happens at 7 p.m., entry is $2 and the proceeds of the sale go to support the artist and the organizers.
The second event is Saturday at the Two Rivers Gallery. Their annual live art auction will present a range of paintings and other works from a diverse blend of artists, all with personal connections to the city's municipal gallery.
"In addition to the Live Auction, the event will include an impressive Silent Auction featuring a range of beautiful juried items made by artisans and artists who regularly sell their work in Two Rivers Gallery Shop," said Two Rivers retail and marketing co-ordinator Elsie Wiebe Klingler. "Fashion designer Cecilia Ho-Grayson of Prince Rupert donated a bustier and skirt with leggings from her new clothing line called Tribes Collection, we have several original works of art, photo prints, jewelry, glasswork and pottery."
Tickets are $25 each or two for $40. Information at tworiversgallery.ca or at 250-614-7800.
