Nove Voce Choral Society, one of the nation’s top community choirs, is hosting auditions Sept. 8 at 7 pm. at Trinity United Church at the corner of Fifth and Union - 3555 Fifth Ave.
The choir won a national championship pre-Covid in 2019 and went on to represent Canada at a world competition in Sweden that same year.
The choral society is hosting auditions and people interested need not prepare anything as they will be taught a new piece and then organizers will see who can hold a harmony part/rhythm.
There is a full season planned with great music from Canadian composers, Broadway composers, and yes, a few old long-dead guys.
A trip to Powell River to attend the International Choral Kathaumiux is planned for next summer, which is BC’s premiere festival that Nove Voce has already been accepted to compete in next year.
Commitment for a choral member is two rehearsals a week, a one-hour sectional which is just the one part they sing and then a 1.5 hour rehearsal on Thursdays with everyone.
Anyone interesting in joining the choir is welcome to attend the audition Sept. 8.
