Nothingness is a Vancouver-based alt-rock band.

Art-rock band Nothingness have released their first collection of songs, a self-titled EP, and the Vancouver group will be in Prince George on Dec. 5 to share it with their friends here.

There is a base of supporters in Prince George, rooted in their previous appearances here. One of them, Jeremy Stewart, is serving as host and opening act for the Nothingness performance.

"I became pals with Bill Young and Caton Diab from Nothingness after their other band, Nam Shub, played the first Casse-Tete festival," said Stewart, founder of the experimental music event and co-proprietor of the Dreamland School of the Arts.

Nothingness formed in 2014 when Diab and Young joined with Justin Devries and Paul Stewart to form the quartet. Since then they have shared the stage with the likes of Frazey Ford and Ian William Craig, they went into recording studio Thor's Palace where Jo Passed did the production work. Young and Devries then went to work themselves on mastering the mix.

The Nothingness EP is the result of that effort.

They've been compared to Akron/Family, Japandroids, and Built to Spill.

Joining them on stage during their CD release tour will be Ora Cogan in four locations, plus single dates with Rhoneil, Divination and Strategy, Patrick Seager, Burro, Dead Fibres and the final show with Stewart in P.G. at Dreamland.

The doors open at 7:30 p.m., music starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $15 available in advance at Dreamland (1010 4th Ave).
