A nursing student who happens to be a photographer is holding a Prince George's Next Top Model series of her own.

It started as a little bit of an idea when Angie McCabe was watching CTV's Canada's Next Top Model, "a show that I love," she claimed.

She contacted Nikita Kiceluk, a finalist in one of the seasons and McCabe ended up photographing the model for her portfolio.

McCabe liked it all so much she decided to come up with her own version and put her idea to the test on Facebook. There are 1,980 people that currently like the event and everyone is encouraged to visit the site and cast their vote for their favourite model over the next several weeks. Each week sees the models in different photos depicting a unique theme and a fan favourite will be chosen. There is also an elimination process where a model will have to leave the competition each week based on judges' criteria.

The finale sees all ten models gather at a venue (to be announced) for a fashion show where P.G.'s Next Top Model will be announced.

"I always wanted to get into fashion photography and I really like the whole aspect of it - having a picture in your head and then actually creating it is what I like to do," said McCabe. "I like to be inspired to be really creative, and so, instead of waiting for people to come to me, I thought I should put something out there to see if people would be interested in coming to me."

Once McCabe put the idea out there on Facebook, she had companies contacting her to volunteer their services within three days, she said.

"I sent out a few letters to different places and got a way bigger response than I ever thought," McCabe said. "Needless to say I have been very, very busy as I am also a full-time student in my fourth year of nursing. It's really fun and I really like the energy I am getting from everyone."

She is working with several students at a hair studio and is encouraging them to get really creative while styling the models' hair for the weekly photo shoots, she added. Everyone who is involved gets an eight-by-10 photo for their portfolio.

"We're getting really supported by local stores, which is so nice," said McCabe, so the fashion show event as the grand finale will be exciting. "I am flying Nikita in for the final event and she's going to be one of the judges."

A panel of judges will chose who goes home, similarly to the television series. One of the judges, along with McCabe will be at each photo shoot to see how each model works under pressure and will take that into account when making their decisions about who moves on and who doesn't.
