Musicians of the north will gather in Smithers during the first Orchestra North Festival from July 1 to 6.
The event will take place at Northwest Community College.
"Orchestra North allows musicians from the north to collaborate, to perform concerts and link our communities together," said Jose Delgado-Guevara, co-director and violin/viola faculty member of the program.
Participants will perform at the Smithers Centennial Celebration and Midsummer Festival, concerts by the Bulkley-Cariboo Trio, with a final concert July 5 to showcase their talent.
The festival is held in partnership with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, Prince George Conservatory of Music, and the Bulkley Valley Classical String Society.
"This year, students will be able to learn about all styles of music without having to travel to another area code," said co-director Sebastian Ostertag, who will be teaching cello at this year's festival.
