The region's very best musicians get a special spotlight tonight.

Each year, the Prince George & District Music Festival gives dedicated players and singers the chance to do their best work in front of audiences and adjudicators. The creme of those competitive performances are awarded prizes and the best of the best get the call to come back for a showcase performance to close the event.

Tonight is the night.

This grand finale is segmented into a pair of shows.

The first is the Showcase Recital, during which the city's best young and emerging talent gets to perform, giving the public a sneak peek at who the big prize winners of tomorrow might be. It is free for the public to attend and happens at 5:30 p.m. at Vanier Hall.

The second is the Festival Gala where the standout numbers by the top artistic scorers come back for an encore, as an additional salute from the judges and as a signal to the local community just how rich our music culture is. This variety event happens at 8 p.m., tickets are $10, also at Vanier Hall.

For a full list of all award winners and those who attained their Goal Seal designation, visit the festival's website at www.pgmusicfestival.com.

The participants in the two closing concerts were selected by the adjudicators.

Not all will be able to attend and perform, but all these performance artists have been invited to the stage:
