One of the hundreds of young dancers who will attend the 34th annual Prince George Dance Festival next week will be taking her last steps at this event as she moves on to pursue a post-secondary school dance education in Vancouver.

Marcy Mills, 17, has been dancing at Judy Russell Enchainement Dance Studio since she was four years old.

Mills is teaching acro, pointe, hip hop and jazz at the studio this year and taught jazz last year. She will be competing in ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary ballet and modern dance during the festival.

"Every morning you try and wake up at about 6:30 and your eyes are still glued shut from the eyelash glue and make up from the day before, so it can be a bit of a challenge," Mills laughed. You know she's dedicated to get up to compete despite those hurdles.

The festival, being held during the School District 57 spring break, boasts about 1,000 entries in 18 different dance categories including highland, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap and many others.
