Local painter, Lesley White, is one of 14 artists whose work has been chosen to go into the National Art Portfolio for Ducks Unlimited Canada in an effort to raise funds for wetland conservation.

Hundreds of artists from across the United States and Canada submit their work for consideration each year.

The artwork offers a variety of subjects like wildlife and landscape as well as a new uncategorized art category.

White's piece is called Remuda, and depicts horses moving away from the viewer, kicking up dust along the way, in a classic western theme that dominates her artwork.

Prints of the artwork will be auctioned at fundraisers and used for Sealed Bid Auction easels that are set up across the country, as well as online at ducks.ca/nap.

Ducks Unlimited Canada is a registered charity and partners with government, industry, non-profit organizations and landowners to conserve wetlands important to waterfowl, wildlife and the environment.
