Faber Drive, Faber Drive, Faber Drive, the name sounds familiar but can't quite place them?

Top radio hit When I'm With You at last check got more than 4.7 million hits on Youtube and that's Faber Drive.

You and I, Second Chance, Life is Waiting, Tongue Tied, all top hits, all Faber Drive and this very big band is coming to entertain at the little Prince George Playhouse May 11 at 7:30 p.m., with special guests local band Horses and Bayonets.

There should be a warning label that comes with opening for Faber Drive, who tend to prank the unsuspecting musicians on the last date of the tour. (That means you, Horses and Bayonets.) Be prepared for some duct tape, a dolly (not that kind of dolly, a trolly kind of dolly), fire crackers, silly string and some general humiliation to come your way -- just sayin'. Dave Faber said they learned first-hand from prank masters, Hedley.

"During our first big tour with Hedley, Jacob (Hoggard) was shooting Roman candles at me when we were running outside in the snow, the band were shooting us with paint balls, and we didn't know how to get them back. They ended up kidnapping me, taking off my shirt, duct-taped me to a dolly, brought me out on stage, stood me up on the dolly, and spray painted Hedley across my chest as they were playing their set."

The Juno-nominated rock band is from Mission, B.C. and was discovered by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. Faber started the band in 2004. The current members include Jeremy Liddle, Jordan Pritchett and Seamus O'Neil.

Besides touring with Hedley, they've toured with Marianas Trench, Jonas Brothers, Simple Plan and Metro Station and now they're the headliners during their own western Canadian tour.

"Things are going great, we just shot our new video and we've got this B.C. slash Alberta tour coming up," said Dave Faber. "We also just landed the Singapore music conference, All That Matters.Asia, where all the biggest booking agents, promoters and recording agents from Europe and Asia get together and have this big conference, kinda like the Canadian Music Week in Toronto and we've been selected to represent Canada, part of the Canada Blast, I think they call it, and we're going to be doing three shows in three nights and some acoustic stuff and hopefully we'll get some tours out of this. We're really excited about it."

Faber Drive has played in some huge venues over the years. On this tour it's a mix of smaller and larger venues.

"The smaller venues are awesome," said Faber. "We love playing small venues because it's up close and personal and to us it just feels like we're hanging out with family and friends, right? You're able to connect with people on a lot more personal level. We love the big shows, too, but I personally find it hard to connect with people on an individual level when you're playing 10 or 20,000 people. I still think we pull it off but we love playing the small shows as well."

The new music video keeps coming up during our sketchy cell phone to land-line conversation.

"For me, right now, I'm really excited about our new music video for our single called Life Is Waiting," said Faber. "We shot it a few weeks back in L.A. in the desert and I think it's our best music video to date. It was shot so well. We had the same director (Mark Staubach) as Simple Plan's Summer Paradise video, he did the new Classified Inner Ninja video , he's done a bunch of Shawn Desman stuff, so yeah, really excited."

Meet the band at Pine Centre Mall May 11 at 4 p.m. Tickets for the show are at Ruins Board Shop, Black Sheep Gifts, The Citizen or online at ticketweb.ca.
