Letter from the publisher to Citizen readers

When I was a kid, the newspaper's T.V. guide was part of the furniture in the living room. When it went missing, we'd all run around trying to find it. That was before hundreds of channels, pay-per-view movies and PVRs.

When I was a kid, the newspaper's T.V. guide was part of the furniture in the living room. When it went missing, we'd all run around trying to find it.

That was before hundreds of channels, pay-per-view movies and PVRs.

The technology now used by Shaw, Telus and Bell has replaced the traditional T.V. guide. The listings pop up on the screen at the touch of a button.

Most daily newspapers dropped T.V. listings years ago. For the last five years at least, the only local provider of a paper version of the T.V. guide has been the Prince George Citizen.

Now, regrettably, those days are over, too. The T.V. listings in today's paper are the last time they will appear in The Citizen.

To help with the transition the Citizen will include a free sample of TV Weekly magazine in the March 8 and March 15 editions of The Citizen. TV Weekly is a quality, glossy covered publication that is conveniently sized (8 1/8" x 11"). In addition to listings, TV Weekly carries the latest Hollywood gossip, reviews, sports highlights, movies at a glance, puzzles and much more.

After the two-week trial, TV Weekly can be purchased at the discounted subscription rate of only 90 cents a copy per week (regular price is $4.99) delivered right to your home through Canada Post. To subscribe, call the Subscription Hotline 1-800-663-0518 or email: [email protected]

For nearly four decades, TVW has provided TV listings content to tens of thousands of readers in the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast and now, Prince George.

The weekly A&E section will continue to run Fridays in The Citizen, with features on local artists, a comprehensive events list and all of the top news in the world of entertainment.
