He's going to Fire It Up during the new-album tour that comes to CN Centre Monday, with special guest Carolyn Dawn Johnson.

CCMA and Juno multi-award winner, Johnny Reid, will take to the stage for the third time in Prince George.

"The Fire It Up tour is full of grandeur," said Reid. "It's so much bigger than I've ever done before -- it's more positive and alive -- I didn't want anything sad or negative -- I just wanted a positive experience for the people who come to our concerts. The tour is big stage, big screens, big songs, big band and we're just bringing it like it needs to be brought. We've got almost 100 people on the road with us and it's incredible. This tour, more than any other one before, is 100 per cent me."

The songs on the album were designed so that the band can walk out into the big arenas and ensure that everyone has an incredible experience, he added.

"I want to encourage everyone to come out to be part of something bigger than themselves -- because that's how I feel when I walk out on stage and it's going to be spectacular," Reid promised.

There's few things people don't know about the country star who reads like an open book but there's still one thing he keeps close to the vest.

Last time he was on tour and heading toward Prince George someone asked him what he intended to do to reach that guy in the back. His smart-mouth answer was to bring 'em to the front -- and then he did.

This reporter witnessed last-row seated audience members teary-eyed when they realized they were picking up front row tickets to the October 6, 2010 show.

"I appreciate people, you know?" said Reid. "I appreciate every single person who spends a dollar on my music - I know how hard it is to make a dollar these days and I appreciate it - I want everybody in the room -- everybody -- to know how much I appreciate, not only them coming to the show, but the time - you know time is a precious thing and for people to want to come out and spend time with me and the band is incredibly humbling. You're the first one to ask me about this and I do this kind of thing all the time but I just let it go. It makes me feel good to give back to the audience. It's almost selfish of me." Recipients of his generosity would disagree.

Reid said he doesn't do it for every show just every now and then.

What he does do most often is go out into the audience to high-five and hug his way through his fans.

Last time Reid was at CN Centre in 2010, he went out into the audience and came up against a very enthusiastic giant of a man who enveloped Reid with a bear hug.

"I remember that man and it was like being covered by a big blanket," Reid recalled. "He screamed in my ear 'I love you Johnny Reid!' and I just had to tell him 'I love you, too, man!'"

Reid said that he grew up where he needed to know his environment and he could tell the guy was there - like all the rest of the audience -- to have a good time and because his show is all about morality, love and family, he knew he didn't have to worry about the big guy coming at him.

"Everybody deserves a little love," Reid said.
