Infectious Nation creeps onto Omineca Arts Centre stage

All-ages gig this Saturday features local bands Infectious and Examine the Bore

Hey zombie cosplayers, get out your liquid latex and fake blood.

You could be in for a night of live hard rock and heavy metal noise loud enough to wake the undead.

The Infectious Nation is putting on an all-ages gig this Saturday night at the Omineca Arts Centre (369 Victoria St.) that features two local bands – Infectious and Examine the Bore.

The movie, Night of the Living Dead, will be projected on the screen behind the stage and band members will be dressed for the occasion in their zombie makeup and attire.

Infectious singer/guitar player Alex Kovachich says there is a financial incentive for audience members to get into the spirit of the evening. Zombies/soldiers will pay a $15 admission charge and humans will be charged $20 at the gate.

Infectious is a four-piece band that includes Brit Kovachich (Alex’s wife) on bass, Andrew Dellaire on vocals and lead guitar and Mike Propopchuk on drums.

Alex Kovachich describes Infectious as a hard rock/heavy metal zombie band. He likes to dig into Hendrix blues riffs, while Dellaire is firmly rooted in metal licks made famous by bands like Trivium, Slayer or Slipknot.

Collectively they’re inspired by the likes of Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pantera and Godsmack.

Kovachich said he and his bandmates grew up playing Resident Evil video games, so it was only natural his love for all things undead would creep into their concert themes. Infectious Nation is a collection of Prince George bands that pool their resources to promote zombie gigs.

Infectious headlined the first Zombiefest in 2015 The zombie theme proved popular last year at a Halloween concert that featured Infectious. They also were omn stage last year at the Zombie Apocalypse at Omineca Arts Centre and this year they’re planning a Halloween event on Oct. 27.

Although Saturday's show is an all-ages event, beer and wine coolers will be served for the 19-plus crowd.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Get there early, the place holds only about 150 people.
