Society Saturday at 7 p.m. at Artspace, above Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave.

Twice a week for the last two and a half months the community was invited to be trained at no charge by those more experienced. Up to 18 participants would come to the sessions held Mondays and Fridays at the Big Brothers Big Sisters clubhouse but not everyone has chosen to take to the stage for the big show.

Between six and eight performers will be in the show and the judges will be provided by 97 FM, with Tim Bennett, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, as host.

"We're actually doing a combination of things - there will be teams and there's one game where one person will be stationary and the rest will move through the scene," said Laura Bennett, president of the board of directors for the Nechako Community Theatrics Society.

"We're going to do our own take on speed dating," added Bennett.

"We're pretty excited about that one. We will also do what we call director's cut where we'll get some audience suggestions as to where we are and who the characters are."

The judges will stop the action and redo the scene that was originally a musical but then quickly turns into a horror, for example.

The show will include another classic - helping hands, where one person puts their hands behind their back and another standing behind them slips their arms around them to act as hands for the person front and centre. Always a crowd favourite, said Bennett.

Admission is $10 at the door.
