Honouring area residents for artistic contributions, the Prince George Regional Arts and Cultural Awards are Friday, April 27 at the Prince George Playhouse.

Nominations are being accepted in 16 categories for awards in writing, visual arts, stage work and music, along with awards for education, advocacy, design,

advertising and culinary arts.

The event sees a new partnership between Prince George Community Arts Council and the Prince George Public Library.

"It's important to not only recognize excellence among local artists but to show how artistic efforts extend into the business community," said Lisa Redpath, project co-ordinator at the Prince George Community Arts Council.

"That's why we've expanded the awards to include professional work done by architects, interior designers, graphic designers, copy writers, teachers and

chefs."

The top Alice Box Memorial Award goes to the individual with the most outstanding contribution to the arts and cultural life in Prince George and/or the Regional District of Fraser Fort-George for the last 10 years or more.
